Description:

You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer for the Canopy Design Team which is responsible for delivering innovative canopy systems for advanced aircraft.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for advancing the design, analysis, and integration of aircraft canopy systems, collaborating closely with program, manufacturing, and supplier partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, test, and validate canopy system designs.
  • Create and modify 3‑D models, assemblies, and installations for primary and secondary structures.
  • Generate system requirements, interface drawings, performance specifications, and trade studies.
  • Provide technical engineering support for manufacturing, installation, and testing at Lockheed Martin and supplier facilities.
  • Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternatives to optimize form, fit, and function of canopy systems.

Who You Are

An experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in aerospace canopy design, proficient in 3‑D modeling, trade‑study analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration. You are detail‑oriented, innovative, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment where impact matters.

Further Information About This Opportunity

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical; Civil Engineers will also be considered
  • Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with 3DX or CATIA V5
  • Experience with metallic and composite design
  • Experience with Mechanisms Design to include the usage of Kinematics and Rigging Procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
