Job Description

Title: Mechanical Engineer – Conveyor Systems Location: Roseville, MI 48066 Hire Type: Direct Hire Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Salary Range: $70k-$75k Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, and many more The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and implementation of conveyor systems for industrial applications. This role is heavily hands-on and design-focused, requiring daily onsite collaboration with project teams. The ideal candidate has strong experience designing conveyor systems and is highly proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Job Duties: Design and detail conveyor systems and components, including overhead conveyors, chain conveyors, and roller conveyors (MDR, CDLR). Perform engineering calculations for drives, shafts, cylinders, bearings, and other mechanical components to ensure system performance and reliability. Create 2D and 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Develop AutoCAD conveyor layouts to support efficient material flow and system operation. Create Assembly Bills of Materials (ABMs) and Work Orders for manufacturing and purchasing teams. Review and verify drawings created by other team members prior to release to manufacturing or subcontractors. Perform chain pull calculations, including drive balancing and drive dropout capabilities based on customer requirements. Provide Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) documentation as required. Collaborate with project teams to resolve technical challenges and meet project deadlines. Support project managers and installation teams during system deployment and commissioning. Conduct site visits for meetings, field assessments, and on-site support as needed. Coordinate with and oversee engineering subcontractors on assigned projects. Ensure designs comply with current customer specifications, standards, and revisions. Identify scope changes and prepare detailed change order documentation. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered). Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical or conveyor design experience. Strong experience with conveyor system design. Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Knowledge of GD&T. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including preparation of RFIs and technical documentation. Strong communication skills with a professional, proactive approach. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing project needs.
