Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement mechanical systems based on approved specifications and requirements.
  • Participate in developing product requirements, specifications, schedules, and feasibility studies to assess functionality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with project management and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot designs, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Conduct and support product design, verification, and validation activities to meet project milestones.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, data sheets, and validation records.
  • Lead and participate in technical design reviews, recommending design changes as needed.
  • Perform all phases of engineering design-from concept to detailed 3D modeling and structural analysis using SolidWorks.
  • Review and assess vendor proposals and drawings to ensure design integrity and alignment with project goals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET certified institution
  • 5-10 years' experience in mechanical design
  • 3 years' experience in SolidWorks or expert knowledge of other 3D CAD modeling systems; experience with COSMOS software package
  • Experience designing heavy structures, including tooling, material selection, and fabrication
  • Experience with subsystem integration and testing
  • Ability to source vendors
  • Understanding of machinery product design, verification, and validation
  • Ability to read and understand scientific and technical documents
