Job Title : Mechanical Design Engineer II Duration : 6 Months Location : Tampa FL Payrate : $42.3/hr on W2 We are looking for candidates with strong experience in SolidWorks. With a focus on material handling and equipment design. The ideal candidate will be more of a design engineer rather than a manufacturing engineer, with a background that may align with a robotics engineering skill set This is an onsite role at our Tampa, FL Facility. Position Summary: The Staples Controls and Automation Group (CAG) is the primary driver of innovation within the Staples North American delivery network. The CAG Engineers have a wide variety of skills including software engineering, controls engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems design, problem solving, communication and leadership skills. They are part of diverse teams, with members from many different departments, so they must be able to gain the trust of others and work well in a team environment to ensure successful completion of high-profile projects. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Working with multiple cross functional engineers to bring a solution from concept to reality. Employ SolidWorks expertise to develop 3D models of diverse components and assemblies. Generate detailed component drawings adhering to GD&T standards to facilitate accurate manufacturing. Ability to provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering and supply chain operations. Work closely with cross functional teams to integrate conveyor control solutions, automated material handling equipment, and autonomous vehicles. Create and maintain mechanical layouts / systems design. Perform on-site commissioning support and design review when required. Perform necessary mechanical installation when required. Essential Requirements: Bachelors or Masters in: Mechanical engineering or a related engineering field. 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, CAD and CAE. Familiarity with the following 3D modeling software platforms: SolidWorks & AutoCAD. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in hardware and mechanical installations. Ability to lead and/or assist in project definition, specification, purchasing follow-through to installation. Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented and the ability to conduct meetings and presentations with associates from all levels of management. Familiarity with the following programming language is a plus: Ladder Logic. This job will require up to a maximum of 50% travel. Preferred Qualifications: Proficient understanding and over 2 years of experience in 3D design and GD&T standards, including their fundamentals. Working knowledge of industrial control systems equipment (PLCs, Servos, and VFDs). Hands on experience commissioning warehouse automation equipment and using hand tools. Warehouse operations management experience or experience with warehouse management and/or execution systems. #TB_EN #ZR
