Position Summary
In the Mechanical Designer I position, you will assist in the documentation process including the creation of part and assembly drawings, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and 3D assembly/model development.
This position reports to Senior Engineering Manager position.
According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:
- Non-Exempt
What You'll Be Doing
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working both individually and collaboratively, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact across teams and projects. Below are some key responsibilities of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models/assemblies as needed to create drawings/documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering and other departments to find solutions.
- Update product models, drawings, and documentation for components through engineering change orders
- Support Operations and New Product Development from conception through product release.
- Initiate workflow processes to promote new or modified part models into the document management system
- Assist with building of fixtures or assembly stations
- Other duties as assigned

Required
- Pursuing associate's degree in mechanical Drafting/Design or related field
- Experience with 3D modeling and 2D drawings using Creo design software or equivalent.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with and ability to use basic hand and power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Preferred
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as: injection molding, die casting, machining, and stamping
- Fixture design experience
- Knowledge of AutoCAD design software
- Knowledge of Windchill PDM system
- Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
