At SmartFlower Solar we turn clean energy into a competitive edge. The SmartFlower product is a photovoltaic solar system that tracks the sun during the day and folds up for storage at night, enabling 40% more power generation than a conventional solar array. Through our innovative design, manufacturing, installation and service approach, we have introduced game changing technology for residential and commercial solar applications. Engineering co-ops at SmartFlower get broad exposure to product design, manufacturing and service, owning projects from start to finish in a fast paced hands-on environment. We are seeking someone with a background in electrical, mechanical or software engineering who is interested in working on complex electro-mechanical and IoT connected systems. Internship Term: Summer – Fall 2026 (June – December)
Commitment: Full Time, 8 AM to 5 PM
Location: On site in Woburn, MA
Requirements
You:
· Are working towards a mechanical, electrical or systems engineering degree
· Can share a portfolio of previous work demonstrating experience with electro-mechanical systems
· Hands-on, self-motivated, and love to work on hardware
· Are able to work independently, manage time and prioritize your work
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Have a working proficiency with mechanical CAD, generating engineering drawings and written documentation
· Skilled at debugging, testing, and identifying the root causes of electromechanical problems
· Independent, self-starter with strong communication skills
· Experience with Python a plus
Benefits
What you will do:
· Assist with engineering and service of Smartflower Solar systems
· Develop and conduct product testing, perform CAD modeling, build prototypes, author documentation and assist with field service
· Support the design and validation of new product features and existing system upgrades
· Research alternative materials, vendors or technologies to enhance performance, reliability and reduce cost
· Support the SmartFlower sales team with custom engineered solutions
