- Conducting comprehensive forensic investigations into mechanical failures, vehicular incidents, and fire-related incidents in the construction industry.
- Utilizing your expertise in materials science to analyze and understand the causes of various incidents and failures.
- Preparing detailed, accurate reports on your findings for use in legal proceedings and insurance claims.
- Serving as an expert witness in court proceedings, providing clear and concise explanations of complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Collaborating with other professionals within the organization to develop preventative measures and safety protocols based on your investigative findings.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior members of the forensic investigation team.
- Staying up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in forensic engineering and materials science.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in mechanical, structural forensic or investigative engineering
- PE licensure
- Proven experience in incident investigation and analysis, specifically in investigations from vehicle accident reconstruction, water loss cause of origin, workplace safety, and/or product liability is preferred.
- Ideally brings in-depth knowledge of materials science and its application in forensic investigation.
- Previous experience serving as an expert witness in legal proceedings is highly desired.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard tools and software for forensic analysis and investigation.
- Vehicle incident / accident reconstruction- ACTAR certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
- A strong commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant industry regulations and standards.
