- Lead mechanical design and development of food processing equipment from concept, modeling, prototyping, testing, and release to production.
- Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for stainless steel components, sheet metal parts, machined parts, and welded assemblies.
- Apply sound engineering principles to ensure manufacturability, durability, safety, and sanitary design compliance (including USDA/3-A standards if applicable).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, service, and product management to define requirements and drive design improvements.
- Manage design changes, BOM updates, and documentation through the full product lifecycle.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, basic FEA, material selection, and root cause analysis for design issues.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of equipment performance.
- Partner with suppliers and fabrication teams to ensure cost-effective and high-quality production methods.
- Provide engineering support for continuous improvement, sustaining engineering, and customer-driven modifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–7+ years of mechanical/product development engineering experience (industrial equipment preferred).
- Strong experience with stainless steel design, sheet metal, weldments, and machine assemblies.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar).
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: laser cutting, forming, machining, fabrication, and welding.
- Experience supporting equipment used in food processing or other sanitary environments preferred.
- Understanding of engineering documentation, GD&T, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
