Role Overview:

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, R&D at Lexington Medical, you will support product development through assembly, testing, and evaluation of surgical staplers. This role involves executing test protocols, documenting results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble intricate production- and experimental-stage device configurations. 
  • Execute comprehensive testing protocols to support product design decisions, componentqualification, design verificationand product acceptance with little to moderate oversight.
  • Thoroughly document results and clearly communicate testing conclusions and anomalies to the Engineering team, ensuring the highest product quality and full adherence to the Lexington Medical quality system.
  • Maintain organization of R&D pilot build areas and accurately document interactions with a complex inventory system.
  • Evaluate test procedures to improve test reliability and reproducibility, while engaging proactively to optimize efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, Warehouse/Receiving, Quality, and Marketing.
  • Assist with production operations, including device assembly and inspection, as needed. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to manipulate small hand tools and assemble small mechanical components. 
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma / GED, or relevant vocational technical school diploma / associate’s degree. 
  • Proficiency with lab test equipment, including calipers, dial & gauge indicators, tensile/compression test systems, and optical metrology systems preferred.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, organize work, manage priorities across teams, and reliably report findings.
  • Proficiency in office software, including Word and Excel.

Location & Work Arrangement:

This position is based in Bedford, Massachusetts (near Boston) and is an onsite role.
