We are passionate about advancing sustainable energy solutions by delivering best-in-class construction services with precision and integrity.Position Overview:As a Mechanical Estimator at Sendero Energy Services, you will be instrumental in expanding our capabilities into mechanical scopes for mechanical, process piping, and Process equipment while continuing our focus on renewable energy. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, and helping us establish best practices in new sectors. A strong understanding of mechanical systems in industrial and renewable energy contexts is essential.Sendero Energy Services is located in Houston, Texas, however, assignments require travel to various locations in Texas, Arizona, or New Mexico. This successful candidate must be willing to travel and work from remote areas where our projects are located. Key Responsibilities1. Estimation and Cost Analysis
  • Develop detailed quantity take-offs for Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs) and cost estimates for mechanical systems, including piping, process equipment, and related electrical integrations.
  • Research material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing specific to hydrogen, process piping, and renewable energy industries.
  • Utilize advanced estimating software to generate precise calculations and bid proposals.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and innovative solutions.
  • Maintain and update cost databases specific to hydrogen, process piping, and renewable energy mechanical systems
2. Project Scope and Technical Review
  • Analyze project plans (Isometric drawings), specifications, and technical documents to determine mechanical scope requirements for hydrogen, process piping, and renewable energy projects.
  • Support pre-construction planning, including mechanical scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Stay informed on industry developments, technologies, and standards related to renewable energy, hydrogen, and mechanical systems in industrial projects.
3. Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with procurement to secure quotes from vendors and subcontractors for specialized materials and services.
  • Work with project managers and engineering teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements and schedules.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating for industrial or renewable energy projects, with exposure to hydrogen or process piping being a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Stack, and Proest.
  • Strong understanding of process piping, hydrogen systems, and their integration with renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and their intersection with mechanical work.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Knowledge of safety codes, industry standards, and regulations affecting renewable energy and industrial sectors.
