Inside the Role
Responsibilities:The Mechanical Product Validation Engineering Supervisor II provides operational leadership for the Madras shop by owning shop execution, work request governance, technician resource planning, and tooling readiness. This role ensures predictable, safe, and high‑quality support across functional testing, RLDA, durability, and FCCC data acquisition, while strengthening cross‑functional coordination, long‑range planning, and continuous improvement at HDPG. Lead and actively drive department‑level initiatives to standardize shop and documentation processes across PVE, including guiding documentation team members in process alignment efforts to harmonize practices using systems such as Jira, Finas and Fleetio, improving data integrity, workflow transparency, and cross‑site consistency to support increasing program complexity and operational demand.Posting Information

Position offers a salary range of $117,000 to $150,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
Shop Operations & Supervision
- Lead day‑to‑day shop operations including technician assignments, stall organization, workload prioritization, and execution.
- Serve as the escalation point for shop execution issues impacting vehicle readiness, schedules, or safety.
- Supervise shop personnel, including staffing, training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Drive data‑based process improvements using shop performance metrics.
Work Requests, Scheduling & Governance
- Own intake, prioritization, scheduling, and execution of all Madras shop work requests.
- Establish and enforce a consistent, governed work order and scheduling process.
- Maintain clear visibility into shop commitments, capacity, backlog, and constraints.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for HDPG shop support.
- Plan and schedule technician support for functional testing, RLDA, durability, and FCCC data acquisition activities.
- Coordinate with test planning and project teams to support ramps, special builds, test events, and high‑visibility activities.
Resource Planning & Flex Capacity
- Represent Madras in resource planning discussions with other L5 leaders.
- Assess staffing, skills, and coverage needs during workload spikes or program ramps.
- Develop and maintain an overall Madras resource plan, including flex and contingency coverage options.
Tooling, Equipment & CapEx
- Own shop tooling and equipment lifecycle management.
- Identify capacity gaps, risks, and future equipment needs.
- Develop CapEx recommendations aligned with upcoming program and test demands.
Training, Process & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure technicians are trained on processes, equipment use, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
- Reinforce standard workflows, work order governance, and shop discipline.
- Develop and maintain shop performance metrics (capacity, utilization, backlog, cycle time, fleet uptime).
- Provide leadership with clear, actionable visibility into shop performance and risks.
- Support tours, visitors, and high‑visibility executive events requiring technician or driver coordination at HDPG, while representing DTNA and PVE before and during executive events.

Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically requires 5–7 years of relevant experience (or 8 years in lieu of degree).
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience.
- Experience in shop, test, manufacturing, or operations environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage scheduling, workload prioritization, and cross‑functional coordination.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and administer policies, processes, and procedures.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Working knowledge of DTNA tools, systems, and documentation processes.
- Strong understanding of truck mechanical systems and mechatronics.
- Experience supporting durability, functional testing, reliability, or validation operations.
- Deep understanding of the projects under test and overall testing scope, with the ability to hold Engineering and project management to high standards while building strong partnerships to address technical product, component, and system challenges identified at the proving grounds.
- Coaching and mentoring experience.
- CDL and/or hands‑on vehicle driving experience.
- Comfort presenting operational status and metrics to leadership.
