About the Role

A well-established industrial mechanical contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex mechanical construction projects. This organization specializes in the installation, service, and maintenance of process mechanical systems within manufacturing and power generation environments.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. The position involves regular travel to job sites across the region; mileage reimbursement is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead industrial mechanical projects from initial planning, design coordination, and pre-construction through final completion and closeout
  • Develop detailed project plans including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Manage project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, change orders, and overall budget accountability
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and field construction teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure project alignment
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and applicable codes related to mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and plumbing)
  • Identify potential risks, conflicts, and delays early; implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership regarding project status, challenges, and milestones
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify quality of work, and resolve field issues in real time
  • Support procurement efforts by assisting with vendor selection, equipment purchasing, and subcontractor management
  • Lead project meetings, including kickoff meetings, progress updates, and closeout discussions
  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of project management experience within the mechanical construction industry
  • Prior experience working for a mechanical contractor strongly preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, plumbing, HVAC, and industrial/process systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale industrial or commercial construction projects from start to finish
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., scheduling and cost tracking systems)
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and change order processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both office and field environments
$120,000 - $145,000 a year
