Job Description
R. J. Corman is seeking a talented Mechanical Supervisor to join and lead our team in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the safe, efficient, and profitable general management of mechanical operations.
- Oversees efficient operation through planning and control of daily operations, crew scheduling, and supervising.
- Follow and monitor work practices, safety related issues to improve quality and performance
- Locomotive and FRA inspections.
- Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
- Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs on assigned company locomotives, vehicles, and equipment.
- Freight car repair if necessary.
- Some travel to other locations required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- Mechanical experience required
- Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools
- Electrical experience preferred
- Experience in rail car repair preferred
- Welding and Oxygen/acetylene torching experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
- Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Able to frequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs
- Able to push and pull with 100lbs of force, the force required to push/pull hand brakes
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Environmental Conditions: Must be able to perform specified duties outside in all weather conditions.
Major or Unusual Problems: A rapidly expanding company requires employees to be flexible with altering operating schedules. One must also expect physical work in inclement weather.
Job Dimensions: Must be able to perform duties under limited supervision. This position requires supervision of fellow employees.
