Job Description
We’re recruiting for a growing design–build mechanical contracting firm serving the food processing and cold storage industry. This role is based onsite in Fort Wayne, IN. Relocation assistance is offered for qualified candidates. This is not a remote position.
The firm is seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer with deep knowledge of industrial refrigeration with ammonia experience being required. This is not a product or machine design role. It requires a systems engineer who can deliver practical refrigeration and piping solutions while working directly with customers.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop refrigeration and mechanical systems that emphasize energy efficiency and reliability
Partner with customers to scope system requirements and prepare detailed budgets/estimates
Produce 2D/3D CAD layouts and validate performance with calculations and simulations
Recommend upgrades to existing systems for improved efficiency and sustainability
Select subcontractors, procure equipment, and support installation and commissioning
Stay current on industry codes, standards, and emerging refrigeration technologies
What You’ll Bring
Mechanical Engineering degree (or related technical background)
Hands-on experience designing refrigeration/mechanical systems (5+ years ideal)
AutoCAD proficiency and strong estimating skills
In-depth knowledge of industrial refrigeration, ammonia preferred
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Clean driving record
Compensation & Benefits
$100,000–$150,000 salary range (based on experience)
