Job Description:

Responsibilities/Duties:
At start of shift, prepare primary IV lines with spinnersadequate for the number of infusion patients on the schedule.
Welcomespatients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering orreferringinquiries.
Rooms patients, collectingheight, weight,vitalsignsand documents them inthechartin a timely manner.
Collectsspecimens,administers shots, and carries out orders (i.e., labs, biopsies, referrals)
Responsible forsafetychecks for equipment including
Weekly AED Check
Weekly eye wash check
Monthly fire extinguisher check
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/oraccompanyingthem to theinfusion room; providing blankets and snacks, helpsto position them for treatment.ArrangeIV and Port access supplies on the nursing carts.
Printsor hand writeslab labels to include patient name, DOB, and MRN.
Completes phlebotomy, routine or specialty blood draws, handling of applicable specimen processing and quality controls.
IV insertion under the delegation and supervision of aRN.
Perform EKG’s testing per provider orders.
Monitors patient progress and evaluates follow up actionsto meet the patients’ needs by providing quality care throughout patient experience.
Assistsnursing during infusion related emergencies by collecting, recording, and documenting vital signs.
Evaluates documents and distributes applicable clinical correspondence ina timelyfashion.
Ensuresinfusion chairs and suitesare clean, stocked, and ready for patients.
Receivesand reviewsmedical supply shipments with Lead RN prior to unpacking. Unpack and stock medical supplies in the treatment areas and nursing carts.
Removestrash from patient treatment areas if it is full,overflowing, or impeding clinical workflow.
Removes HPI from infusion room per policy by emptyingrecyclingbins into the secure shred bin daily.
Once you have completed Stericycle Hazardous Medical Waste Training, assess sharps containers(red bins)and replace when they are more than ¾ full.
Alertachemotherapy certified RNifchemo wastebins(yellow bins)are more than ¾ full. InfusionCNs should not handle items contaminated with trace chemotherapy or chemotherapy waste.
Assistsnursing staffwith patient exams and procedures as needed.
Performs reminder calls topatientsfor the followingday as delegated by Lead RN or CNwhen applicable.
Maintains patient confidentialityand protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
Updates job knowledge byparticipatingin educational opportunities; reading professional publications;maintainingpersonal networks;participatingin professional organizations.
Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership foraccomplishingnew and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentsand growth.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Manages conflict with good resolutions.
Ability to multi-task and anticipate needs of providers.
Proficient in EKG, venipuncture, and managing lab work and genetic testing a plus.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
CMA certificate or equivalent experience and willingness to earn CMA certification required.
Three years of experience as a medical assistant or related role preferred.
CPR/BLS certification, required upon hire.
Medical Oncology Experience Preferred.

Pay: Starting at $22/hour and up DOE.
