Medical Assistant

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistant are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.WHO WE AREFranciscan Health is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and promoting health and wellness in our community. • 3 days /12-hour schedule (8am–8pm M–F) days rotate as well as a Saturday rotation (8am–4pm); closed Sundays; schedules made ~1 month in advance

• This is a blended site with Express Care, Working Well and HEA. We see acute injuries and illness, pre-employment physicals, drug screens, family medicine, etc

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider

• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person

• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required High School Diploma/GED

• Required Program Medical Assisting

• In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience-Required

• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association- within 90 days of hire

• For an MA, you must have one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire:  Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health or  Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or  Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or  Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants or   Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)
