Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant – Urology

Location: Sun City / Surprise, AZ

Hours & Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Half days on Fridays)

Work Environment: Fast-paced outpatient specialty clinic focused on urology care.

Salary / Hourly Rate: $18.50 – $27.50 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff by performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties that ensure efficient patient care and clinic operations. This role assists with procedures, prepares treatment rooms, documents patient information, and coordinates clinical activities throughout the day.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a friendly, caring, and professional demeanor while interacting with patients and their families. This position plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience while helping maintain an organized, efficient clinical workflow.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and clinical information in electronic medical records
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and document symptoms or concerns
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with preparation for physician evaluations
  • Assist physicians with procedures and clinical care throughout the day
  • Prepare treatment and procedure rooms with appropriate instruments and equipment
  • Enter and maintain patient information accurately within the EMR system (Epic)
  • Process lab requisitions and coordinate specimen pickup with laboratories
  • Send orders for labs, imaging, medications, and referrals as directed by providers
  • Coordinate patient scheduling for urgent or STAT tests before patients leave the clinic
  • Monitor and manage prescription refill requests and electronic prescriptions
  • Maintain clinic cleanliness according to maintenance protocols and safety standards
  • Monitor biohazard and sharps disposal in accordance with OSHA guidelines
  • Restock exam rooms and treatment areas and track supply inventory and expiration dates
  • Assist with ordering patient care supplies and maintaining supply levels
  • Answer clinical phone calls and return messages throughout the day
  • Communicate clearly with physicians, patients, and clinical staff regarding care instructions
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and patient information
  • Support clinic operations and assist with additional duties as directed

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program required
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (not required)
  • Valid CPR certification required
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems (Epic preferred)
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology
  • Excellent phone etiquette and patient service skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient movement
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when assisting patients or handling supplies

Requirements
