Medical Assistant

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Practice Director, the Medical Assistant provides direct and supportive patient care while assisting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. This role supports clinical and administrative functions to ensure efficient operations and an exceptional patient experience.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering respectful, confidential, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
EMR & Documentation
Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to complete best practice workflows accurately
Document and update patient information including vital signs, medical history, and social history
Manage daily worklists including order tracking, task completion, and document imports
Ensure compliance with regulatory documentation requirements
Clinical Support
Conduct pre-visit planning and chart preparation, including obtaining outside medical records
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies
Greet and room patients professionally, explaining procedures and next steps
Prepare, position, and assist patients during examinations
Collect and prepare specimens in accordance with laboratory regulations
Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment
Order medical supplies, medications, and immunizations as needed
Follow infection control and biohazard protocols
Assist with prescription refill processes under provider supervision
Administer and handle vaccines in accordance with immunization program standards
Process referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications
Patient Access & Communication
Answer and return patient calls using professional telephone etiquette
Schedule appointments, procedures, referrals, and diagnostic tests
Support timely communication between patients and providers
Organizational Expectations
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality
Communicate effectively and contribute to a positive team environment
Maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, and visitors
Practice workplace safety at all times
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program preferred
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Registration with the New Hampshire Board of Registration for Medical Technicians preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Effective verbal communication skills
Ability to manage a fast-paced clinical environment
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with EMR systems
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform routine clinical tasks
