Job Summary
Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant. The schedule is Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in the delivery of high-quality health care services and serves as the first point of contact for clients. This position is responsible for assisting clients throughout the care process, coordinating with providers, and ensuring clients receive timely, comprehensive, and compassionate care.
It is the duty and responsibility of the Medical Assistant to:
- Collaborate with medical providers, nursing staff, and leadership to ensure efficient patient flow, minimize wait times, and maintain a high standard of patient care during inpatient stay.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with multiple providers in person to support seamless patient care.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure in a fast-paced primary care environment.
- Perform duties in compliance with approved workflows.
- Collect and document vital signs and medical history.
- Administer and update PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screenings.
- Review and update patient allergies.
- Reconcile and update current medications.
- Verify and update preferred pharmacy information.
- Complete prior authorizations for medications.
- Collect and document UAs.
- Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in compliance with LDH requirements and CARF standards
- Clearly and consistently communicate patient concerns, complaints, and client needs to providers on staff and to the Community Health Center to support continuity and quality of care.
- Address client concerns received via e-mail from residential, partnered departments, and community agencies in a timely and professional manner.
- Administer and accurately document intramuscular (IM) injections in accordance with protocols.
- Maintain a clean workstation.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality always.
- Consistently provide compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive care to clients from diverse backgrounds, regardless of socioeconomic or cultural differences.
- Establish and maintain professional boundaries while fostering a caring and supportive patient experience.
- Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current and unexpired CPR certification
- Proficient in MS Office 365
- At least 1 year of Electronic Health Records experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
