OB-GYN Medical Assistant – Must-Have Requirements

  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • 1–2 years of experience in OB-GYN or women’s health preferred
  • Experience with EMR systems and medical documentation
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

OB-GYN Medical Assistant – Position Summary

The OB-GYN Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality, compassionate women’s healthcare. This role includes both clinical and administrative duties, assisting with obstetric and gynecologic procedures, coordinating patient care, and maintaining accurate medical records in a fast-paced women’s health clinic.

OB-GYN Medical Assistant – Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients; record vital signs and medical histories
  • Assist providers with Pap smears, pelvic exams, IUD insertions, and ultrasounds
  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize medical instruments
  • Administer injections and medications as directed
  • Educate patients on procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Support prenatal and postpartum patient care coordination
  • Schedule appointments and follow-up visits
  • Manage EMR documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Perform insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compassionate bedside manner

OB-GYN Medical Assistant – Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in obstetrics, gynecology, or women’s health clinic settings
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office
  • Professional demeanor and patient-focused attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medical records
