Job Description

The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast-paced doctor’s office. This person will be involved in a wide spectrum of tasks focused around assisting the Physician in all minor in office procedures. 

Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Welcome patients, escort them to exam rooms, ensure comfort, take vitals, and update medical history, medications, and allergies in the EMR
  • Prepare and open/close exam rooms daily, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment
  • Assist providers with injections, wound care, nail care, wart treatments, minor procedures, and in-office surgeries, including post-op dressing changes and suture removal
  • Perform X-rays and digital radiography; prepare lab specimens and coordinate pickups
  • Dispense and fit DME, apply pads/strappings, and assist with diabetic shoe measurements and orthotics
  • Clean, wrap, autoclave, and count instruments; replenish back-office supplies and treatment room inventory
  • Support administrative needs including scheduling, patient check-in/out, insurance verification, referrals, pre-authorizations, prescription faxing, and end-of-day documentation

Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant program completion or 2+ years of clinical experience
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and customer service skills
  • Experience with EMR systems, medical terminology, and basic insurance processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and assist wherever needed
  • Ability to travel between local office locations, as needed 
  • Technologically savvy; proficient in Microsoft 365 products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

  • Maintain peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments
