Job Description Summary

The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant III (CMA/RMA) is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate clinical and administrative support to physicians, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals in both outpatient and hospital settings. This role ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient care through coordination, education, and hands-on service delivery while adhering to established clinical guidelines, provider supervision standards, and organizational policies.

How will you make an impact & Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Interviews patients in the exam room, obtaining and documenting information relevant to patient care. Follow standard workflows and questionnaires to maximize patient interactions and documentation.
  • Works under moderate supervision.
  • Verifies patient information, reviews and updates medical history, and takes vital signs based on appointment types.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients, including stocking and cleaning.
  • Assists provider by preparing patients for physical examinations and by assisting with procedures.
  • Follows telephone screening guidelines for answering the phone; identifies patient's health problem or concern and directs calls.
  • Consistently schedules patient appointments and referrals demonstrating understanding of scheduling guidelines and patient needs. Reason for appointment is clearly documented.
  • Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization.
  • Uses software following established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant computer access, including only secure means of handling and forwarding PHI (e.g., no emails, texts, or phone messages).
  • Maintains clinical proficiency in practice specific competencies.
  • Demonstrate excellent service to internal team members and patients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduated from accredited program and completed externship.
  • Possess current CMA / RMA certification.
  • Perform all CMA / RMA responsibilities, as defined by the job description.
  • Successfully complete on time all MPG required training.
  • 1 - 4 years of experience in a clinical setting or patient environment.
  • Is gaining or has attained full proficiency in job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Have a positive customer service attitude and are energized by helping people.
  • Assimilate information and listen well.
  • Have a strong work ethic that includes thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Understand that success comes from working together (team player)
  • Adapt to changing circumstances with patience and determination.
  • Love to solve problems creatively and think analytically.
  • Pride themselves on their ability to organize and process information.
  • Take ownership of outcomes in providing quality service and support.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand, walk and able to maneuver in small areas. Occasionally sit, bend or kneel. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
