Job Overview – Medical Collections Specialist (Surgical Billing)Compensation: $30/hourLocation: Westchester County, NYSchedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Medical Collections Specialist (Surgical Billing) in Westchester County, NY for our client, supporting accounts receivable, insurance follow-up, and surgical billing operations. In this role, you will resolve outstanding claims, manage denials and appeals, and ensure accurate reimbursement through payer communication. You will utilize NextGen to track claims and maintain accurate patient financial records.Responsibilities as the Medical Collections Specialist (Surgical Billing):

• Accounts Receivable Management: Manage assigned A/R accounts to resolve outstanding claims and ensure timely reimbursement.
• Insurance Follow-Up: Contact insurance carriers to verify claim status, resolve denials, and address discrepancies.
• Appeals Processing: Prepare and submit appeals for denied or underpaid claims in accordance with payer guidelines.
• Payment Reconciliation: Review payments and adjustments for accuracy and ensure alignment with contracted rates.
• Patient Collections: Contact patients to collect outstanding balances including deductibles, coinsurance, and self-pay amounts.

Qualifications for the Medical Collections Specialist (Surgical Billing):

• Experience: 1+ year of experience in medical insurance collections required, preferably within surgical or specialty billing.
• Industry Knowledge: Possesses strong understanding of medical billing processes, insurance claims, and reimbursement structures.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in medical billing systems such as NextGen and Microsoft Office applications.
• Skills & Attributes: Exhibits strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage high-volume workloads effectively.
