We are seeking a Medical Equipment Planner, under the Temporary Professional Staffing Services contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This project will provide professional staffing services to the Medical and Engineering Department's capabilities at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (LBVAHCS). Positions will be assigned to specific sections within the department, including Capital Development, Projects & Construction, Business Management, and Maintenance & Operations, and report to the respective Section Supervisor in support of medical center tasks.
The position is on-site, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, based at LBVAHCS, located at 5901 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822.

So, what will the Medical Equipment Planner at Terrestris do?
The Medical Equipment Plannerwill be a key personnel position for the Temporary Professional Staffing Services contract, working with the Engineering Service Planning Section under the Interior Design Section. The Medical Equipment Planner will be responsible for overseeing and assisting with major project activations, equipment planning, specifying, budgeting, preparing solicitation packages for equipment purchases, and managing delivery and installation. The Supervisory Interior Designer shall review the completed work.
What does a typical day look like for Medical Equipment Planner?
You will:
- Develop equipment plans for healthcare spaces across major construction projects.
- Analyze architectural drawings, equipment schedules, and utility plans for coordination gaps.
- Conduct equipment inventory audits, cost analyses, and reuse evaluations.
- Integrate medical equipment with infrastructure systems including IT, security, and audiovisual.
- Coordinate equipment moves, procurement, installation, and scheduling activities.
- Manage equipment planning budgets, standards, and technical specifications.
- Review contractor deliverables for accuracy and alignment with design and installation plans.
- Ensure compliance with VA standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Produce procurement packages including SOWs, specifications, cost estimates, and documentation.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and provide technical guidance throughout design and installation phases.
What qualifications do you look for?
You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:
- Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Bachelor's Degree OR 8-10 years of medical equipment planning experience in a healthcare/hospital construction environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the state of the art in medical technology, including scientific advances, network protocols, and vendor changes.
- Ability to write equipment specifications and statements of work for procurement of medical equipment.
- Ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Experience creating and maintaining collateral; maintenance & tracking using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, Contracting Officers, and Long Beach staff.
- AutoCAD and MS Project are preferred but not required.
