Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Blood Bank Specialist / Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join a growing healthcare team near Sheldon, VT.
This position functions as a laboratory generalist across all laboratory sections while providing advanced technical and administrative oversight of the Blood Bank. The ideal candidate will bring strong medical laboratory experience, specialized blood bank expertise, and a commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory testing across multiple laboratory sections as a generalist.
Provide advanced technical and administrative oversight of the assigned Blood Bank area.
Perform blood bank and transfusion-related testing according to established procedures.
Process patient specimens and perform diagnostic laboratory testing.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Perform and monitor quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Assist with blood product preparation, compatibility testing, and transfusion services as appropriate.
Train and provide technical guidance to laboratory staff.
Monitor laboratory procedures and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
Assist with identifying and resolving technical issues within the Blood Bank and other laboratory sections.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
Qualifications
College degree required.
ASCP certification required.
Prior Medical Laboratory Scientist/Laboratory Technologist experience required.
Previous Blood Bank experience required.
Strong knowledge of immunohematology, transfusion medicine, specimen processing, and laboratory testing.
Knowledge of laboratory quality control, instrumentation, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative laboratory team.
