Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Certification required from:

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Association of Bioanalysts

Experience

  • Minimum 24 months experience

Phlebotomist Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • Experience in:
    • Blood draw
    • Specimen collection
    • Lab accessioning
    • Hospital / clinical lab setting

Preferred Certification

  • National Phlebotomy Association
  • ASPT
  • ASCP

Skills

  • Experience with elderly and difficult patients
  • Basic typing & computer skills
  • Fluent English communication Key Responsibilities Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist
  • Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other specimens.
  • Process and prepare samples for accurate testing.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers.
  • Follow quality control and safety standards set by the College of American Pathologists.
  • Record and report test results accurately to healthcare providers.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with VA laboratory policies.
