Position: Laboratory Tech (PRN)
Location: Simpson General HospitalDepartment: LaboratoryReports to: Director of LaboratoryRemote Work: NoExperience: 1+ year preferred - Recent MLT grads encouraged to apply!Education:
- Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology (Required)
- ASCP or equivalent certification (Preferred)

What You'll Do
You will be responsible for performing essential laboratory procedures and ensuring accuracy, safety, and high‑quality results. Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and resolve specimen collection/processing issues
- Perform and report in‑house testing (Hematology, Coag, Chemistry, Serology, UA, Microscopy, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy)
- Conduct complex analyses, troubleshoot deviations, and maintain precision
- Review QC results and take corrective actions
- Prepare blood components and perform compatibility testing
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analyzers and lab equipment
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments
- Provide accurate medical technology information
- Maintain workflow and support interdepartmental cooperation
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
- Report critical/panic values promptly
- Perform proficiency testing and support QA functions
- Complete clerical tasks associated with testing and reporting
- Participate in ongoing education and training
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Use hands for fine motor tasks and equipment handling
- Bend, twist, and move freely throughout the shift
- Communicate clearly and understand others
- Perform minimal lifting
- Visually inspect samples and equipment both up close and at a distance
