Department: Rehab Services
Location: Main Hospital. May be required to work at an alternate location to support departmental staffing needs.Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Position Summary
The Rehab Services Department supports a high-volume pediatric population, serving 300+ patients daily. The Medical Office Specialist (MOS) plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and efficient registration experience for children and families.
The MOS is primarily responsible for patient registration and front-end administrative support.This position focuses on obtaining and maintaining accurate demographic, insurance, and billing information to support patient care, compliance, and reimbursement.
MOS staff serve as a key point of contact for patients and families, providing excellent customer service while managing multiple administrative tasks in a busy medical office environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Complete the registration process for new and returning pediatric rehab patients
Obtain, verify, and update demographic, insurance, and payer information accurately
Manage patient accounts, including monthly account maintenance as assigned
Collect and record payments for rehabilitation services in accordance with hospital policy
Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and hospital regulations
Accurately document patient information and registration activity in Epic and related systems
Scan and upload paper medical documents into the electronic medical record
Manage and disseminate clinical and administrative information to support patient care
Communicate effectively with patients, families, therapists, physicians, and internal departments
Collaborate with authorization and billing teams to support patient access and financial clearance
Manage patient correspondence related to registration and administrative needs
Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and performance improvement activities
Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
May be required to work at an alternate location to support departmental staffing needs.

Effective verbal and written communication skills
Computer-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and workflows
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
