Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our Occupational Health Team! This is a Monday-Friday Opportunity.
What You'll Do:
- Greets, instructs and directs patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner; serves as liaison between patients and medical support as well as internal and external departments and customers;
- Oversee the waiting area, coordinates patient movement and reports problems or irregularities; responds to routine inquiries and/or directs customer to appropriate individual or area. Create an overall welcoming environment. Prepares charts with all required forms for scheduled appointments. Pre-registers scheduled appointments. Registers scheduled and walk-in patients on arrival into the (EPIC) computer system and our department software (Systoc; verifies patient information for accuracy; enters order entry codes and information; schedules patients on other department schedules in EPIC, enters and retrieves information from computer system for patient care; enters charges. Scans documents into Systoc and EPIC. Documents all self-payments on accounts, runs credit card and or cash and check payments at the time of service.
- Answers telephone calls and schedules appointments for patients; coordinates scheduling with staff and ancillary departments. Sorts electronic faxes and forwards to appropriate staff. Scans incoming mail and faxes an forwards to appropriate staff. Maintains adequate supplies needed to in the reception area.
- Maintains and reports clinical volume statistics. Runs self -pay payment reports daily. Checks each discharged chart for accurate charges.
- Assists staff in preparation of spreadsheets, logs and forms as needed or requested. Assists with submitting DOT exams to DOT registry.
- Works on projects and special assignments as assigned. Serve as a member of the team, participating in problem solving issues to enhance the department’s efficiency and operation. Uses good judgment in making decisions.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient medical records.
What You'll Bring/Requirements:
Completion of high school education and three (3) years experience in a medical office; demonstrable skills in data entry, personal computer, communication and organizational skills or equivalent combination of education and experience.
