A well-established healthcare organization in the Sacramento area is seeking experienced Member Service Representative II to join their growing team. This is an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for customer service professionals who thrive in a fast-paced call center environment and are passionate about helping members navigate healthcare benefits, claims, and services.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a customer-first mindset, and previous experience in healthcare, health insurance, or an HMO environment.

Schedule

The Member Services department operates 7 days per week, with shifts scheduled between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Candidates must be flexible to work assigned schedules within operating hours.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a primary point of contact for members, providers, brokers, and plan partners via phone, email, chat, and fax.
• Answer questions regarding health plan benefits, coverage, claims, policies, and procedures.
• Research and resolve complex member issues, ensuring timely and accurate follow-up.
• Assist with claims-related billing questions and concerns.
• Accurately document member interactions, appeals, grievances, and case resolutions.
• Support and mentor fellow Member Service Representatives by providing guidance on benefits, policies, and systems.
• Train and shadow new team members as needed.
• Educate members on self-service tools, online resources, and available programs.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve member concerns within established service standards.
• Handle sensitive and challenging customer situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Meet departmental performance, quality, and attendance expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent call center experience required.
• Previous experience in healthcare, health insurance, managed care, or HMO environments strongly preferred.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to navigate multiple systems while handling member inquiries.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
