Help people heal. Be part of something meaningful.

At Brook Lane, we believe recovery begins with compassion, structure, and human connection. As a Mental Health Associate (MHA) in our inpatient programs, you'll be a vital part of the treatment team-supporting patients during critical moments in their mental health journey and helping create a safe, therapeutic environment where healing can begin.

This role is well-suited for individuals who are empathetic, resilient, and motivated by purposeful, hands-on work.

About the Role

Mental Health Associates work directly with patients of all ages within Brook Lane's inpatient units. You'll collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, and providers to support treatment plans and ensure patient safety, dignity, and engagement in care.

Each shift brings variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a structured inpatient psychiatric setting

  • Support and facilitate therapeutic programming, including group activities and the Theme of the Day model

  • Observe patient behavior, document progress, and communicate relevant information to the treatment team

  • Intervene appropriately to support patient needs while maintaining safety

  • Foster a therapeutic milieu that promotes respect, structure, and recovery

  • Enforce unit rules and organizational policies in a consistent, supportive manner

  • Build positive working relationships within a multidisciplinary team

  • Assist with the training and orientation of new staff, as needed

  • You will be on your feet and moving throughout most of your shift

  • Some desk and documentation work is required

  • You may need to lift or carry up to 40 pounds, as needed

  • Patients may experience emotional or behavioral escalations; you'll respond with calm, empathy, and safety awareness

  • You may assist with physical interventions when necessary to ensure safety

  • A valid driver's license is required, as patient transport using company vehicles may be part of the role

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in a social science preferred

  • Previous mental health or healthcare experience preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions using sound judgment

  • Basic to moderate computer proficiency

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Brook Lane is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our inpatient services are designed to meet patients where they are-offering structure, dignity, and hope.

You become part of a team that values:

  • Purpose-driven work

  • Collaboration and respect

  • Professional growth and learning

  • Making a meaningful impact in the lives of others
