MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

LPC/LCSW/LMFT

Summary

For the position of a qualified Mental Health Professional (LPC/LCSW/LMFT), the individual must have the ability to think globally, sole problems and have good decision-making skills, including critical thinking skills. Applicant must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Have the ability to work in and adapt to the culture of a multi-cultural juvenile detention facility. Commitment to maintain confidentiality as well as having an understanding of the facilities' mission and culture. Have the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for individual mental health assessments, and performs initial intake interviews.
  • Identifies psychological, emotional or behavioral issues and diagnosis.
  • Responsible for determining the residents' psychiatric diagnosis based on established diagnostic criteria.
  • Provide Crisis-Intervention services to residents as needed according to agency policies, procedures and service definitions.
  • Treatment planning based on the residents' strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Submits timely documentation according to agency policies, procedures and service definitions.
  • Serve in a confidential role to Executive Director in matters involving compliance with federal and state law affecting detained juveniles.

Qualifications

A Master of Social Work degree; or

A Master of Art, Science or Education degree in a mental health field;

Licensed in the State of Mississippi to practice counseling as either a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist;

Applicant must possess a valid drivers' license (in good standing and proof of auto insurance); and

Successful clearance of a criminal background check.
