Job Description

Job Purpose

The Locomotive Monitoring Center (LMC) Manager is responsible for managing the LMC team, currently consisting of 19 direct and indirect reports. They will be responsible for developing and monitoring KPI's for the LMC team, along with preparing executive level presentations. The LMC manager will regularly interact with various internal departments, and executive level personnel both internally and externally. The LMC manager needs to be a self-starter with strong managerial skills, be comfortable presenting in customer-facing roles, and drive growth by securing new customer contracts.

Education / Training

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent training.

Key Job Elements

  • Works with various rail line customers - both domestic and international - to show value and address customer issues;
  • Second line manager with both domestic and international employees;
  • Develop KPI's for reports and drive accountability to meet those KPI's;
  • Develop executive level presentations for both internal and customer meetings;
  • Lead executive level meetings, both internally and externally;
  • Grow the business through new contract securement;
  • Manage various projects simultaneously;
  • Be forward thinking to drive organizational change;
  • Coordinate and consult with a variety of departments, such as design engineering, reliability, field service and contract maintenance;
  • Participate in customer conference calls to address customer concerns;
  • Generate department metric report-outs utilizing various Microsoft and PowerBI programs;
  • Frequent and effective contact with customers and internal employees;
  • Promote a strong team environment;
  • Travel as required for customer meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and workforce;
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex;
  • Willingness/ability to relocate as necessary;
  • Ability to work as part of a multi shift seven (7) day a week operation;
  • Strong analytical aptitude;
  • Highly organized and able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software;
  • High level of oral and written communications skills;

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

  • Strength- Position involves work in a standard office environment. Frequent sitting. Occasional standing, walking. Rare lifting might be required.
  • Motion- The position spends most of the time in an office setting. The position will require occasional walking, standing, stooping, and bending.
  • Vision/Hearing Requirements- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Work Environment- Work in temperature-controlled environment.
  • Emotional Demands- Required to liaise with multiple levels within the organization, including executive leaders and managers. Individual must be well-spoken, able to manage multiple priorities and individual requests daily.
  • Safety- This is not a safety sensitive position. It is primarily an office position requiring awareness of the safety requirement in an office environment within the facility; must be capable of following all safety protocols.
