Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) seeks a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This role offers an exciting opportunity to guide students through inquiry-based learning and hands-on experiments, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the natural world. You will be essential in preparing students for future academic pursuits by making science engaging, relevant, and inspiring.

Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning & Delivery:

  • Plan and deliver daily, differentiated science lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the FOSS curriculum.

  • Facilitate inquiry-based learning, fostering students' ability to ask questions, design experiments, and analyze results.

  • Design and implement assessments to measure student understanding and scientific literacy.

  • Use high-quality questioning techniques to engage students and encourage thoughtful scientific discussions.

Classroom and Student Management:

  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, respect, and academic rigor.

  • Set clear behavioral expectations to ensure a positive, productive learning environment.

  • Manage classroom procedures to optimize instructional time and student engagement.

Data-Driven Instruction:

  • Analyze student performance data to inform instructional strategies and interventions.

  • Differentiate instruction based on student needs to ensure measurable academic growth.

Collaboration & Professional Development:

  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), professional development sessions, and collaborative planning meetings.

  • Reflect on teaching practices and incorporate feedback to improve instruction continuously.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-disciplinary projects and share best practices.

Family & Community Engagement:

  • Build meaningful relationships with parents and families to support student learning and development.

  • Maintain open communication regarding student progress, successes, and areas for growth.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.

  • Follow school policies regarding behavior, attire, and punctuality.

  • Participate in school events beyond regular hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field (required)

  • Passing Praxis scores (required)

  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience (preferred)

  • Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and inquiry-based learning practices (preferred)

  • Proven ability to assess student learning and foster academic growth

  • COVID-19 vaccination required

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

  • Paid sick and personal time off
