Middle School Science Teacher (6th–8th Grade)

You actually enjoy middle schoolers. Your job is to show them. You know how to hold the line without losing the relationship. You bring structure and warmth in equal measure and you understand that one without the other does not work with this age group.

You are also someone who never stopped being curious yourself. You read about things that have nothing to do with your job. You ask questions other people stopped asking. That energy is contagious and middle schoolers feel it immediately.

What You Will Do

You will build a classroom where questions are welcome, where hands-on learning is the norm, and where students leave understanding not just what happened but why. You will teach 6th, 7th, or 8th grade science with rigor and creativity, use data to drive your instruction, and collaborate with a team that is genuinely invested in getting better together.

• Deliver rigorous, engaging science instruction that sparks curiosity and builds real understanding
• Design learning experiences that go beyond the textbook and make content come alive
• Build a structured classroom where routines create the conditions for inquiry and discovery
• Use data to understand what your students know and what they need next
• Hold high expectations while building the relationships that make students want to meet them
• Partner with families and colleagues to support every learner
• Show up to coaching and planning ready to grow

What We Are Looking For

• A genuine love for science and the ability to make it feel relevant to a 12 year old's life
• Someone who actually likes middle schoolers and understands how they operate
• The kind of curiosity that is impossible to fake and impossible for kids to ignore
• Consistency and structure, because this age group needs to know exactly where the line is
• Humility and coachability, you want feedback and you use it
• Grit, because some days are hard and great teachers show up anyway
• Strong communication and the ability to connect with families and teammates

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred:

• Texas teaching certification in Science (or willingness to obtain one)
• Any experience working with kids in any setting counts. Tutoring, coaching, mentoring, after school programs. Tell us about it.
• A background in science, biology, chemistry, environmental studies, engineering, or any field where you spent time asking how and why, is a plus

• Salary: $55,000–$65,000
