Middle School Science Teacher - Leave Replacement

Princeton Day School is seeking an experienced Middle School Science Teacher to cover a leave replacement from April 13, 2026 through June 4, 2026. Successful candidates will be eager to provide an engaged science classroom, using a variety of research based instructional tools, including inquiry based and project-based teaching and learning. Teaching assignments reflect the training and interests of the teacher coupled with the needs of the students.

In addition to teaching 4 sections of Science, a full-time teacher contributes to the community life of PDS as an advisor of 6-12 students, has various duties, and is expected to contribute to school life outside the classroom in an extracurricular activity, such as coaching or clubs.

For this position, the ideal candidate is expected to:

• Teach three sections of 6th grade life science
• Teach one section of 8th grade physical science
• Serve as an advisor in the middle school
• Assist in middle school specific duties and extra-curricular areas of the school

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

•  Bachelor's Degree in math or a science discipline (Masters preferred)
• Teaching experience in middle school
• Have knowledge of best practices in 21st century science instruction
• Proven success in teaching and curriculum development
• Forward thinking and creative teacher
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Experience with technology integration
• Experience with differentiated instruction
• Creative and resourceful, with a sense of humor and strong work ethic
• A passion for learning and a commitment to academic excellence and student achievement
• Commitment to collaborative and innovative teaching styles

Compensation Range: $14,000 - $23,000 for this 8-week leave replacement assignment (this role is NOT eligible for benefits)
