Job Description
Position Summary:
Mig Weld Operator is responsible for securing components into a fixture and uses a welder to weld parts together. Welder will clean parts with a chisel, file and grind as needed to meet quality inspection criteria. The Mig weld operator will use specifications to accurately weld parts and metal components and verify product quality by inspection and measuring equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow safety and environmental procedures
- Come to work everyday, on time as scheduled
- Proficient communication skills
- Accurately read and use quality tools to ensure quality parts. Examine welds and unload parts to ensure they meet standards and specifications to verify product quality
- Use computer to enter part information/inventory in ERP system
- Load, setup, operate Mig welding equipment
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and repair and setup to keep Mig welder running smoothly and reduce downtime.
- Examine weld during welding process; observe problems with the weld and adjust the speed, voltage, amperage, or feed of the wire or rod
- Execute scheduling board
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to use motorized walking stacker
- Ability to operator cranes, overhead hoists
- Ability to use quality inspection equipment
- Proficient and basic math and computer skills
- Ability to pass eye exam
