Job Description
Turner Staffing Group is seeking Mill Operators to support processing plant operations at a large mining operation near Fairbanks, Alaska. This role is responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of multiple areas of the mineral processing plant to optimize production and recovery.
This is a site-based position, and transportation to the mine site is provided via shuttle from the Fairbanks area.
Local Alaska candidates only.
Position Overview
The Mill Operator assists with the operation of processing plant circuits including grinding, flotation, leaching, tailings management, water treatment, and reagent systems. The role also includes equipment monitoring, basic maintenance tasks, and maintaining safe operating conditions throughout the plant.
Operators work closely with maintenance personnel, metallurgists, and other operations staff to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with startup, operation, and shutdown of processing plant equipment
- Monitor and control plant circuits to maintain optimal operating parameters
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and report concerns to supervisors
- Record operational data and maintain accurate operator logs
- Perform equipment inspections and routine operational checks
- Identify and report maintenance needs or equipment performance issues
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety
- Support reagent handling, mixing, and process sampling
- Participate in pre-shift safety meetings, hazard identification, and incident reporting
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, environmental, and metallurgical teams
- Assist in training and mentoring other operators when required
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience operating process plant or industrial equipment preferred
- Ability to work safely in a mining or heavy industrial environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical
Work Environment
This role is based at an active mine processing facility and may involve:
- Indoor plant and outdoor work environments
- Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and varying weather conditions
- Walking, climbing stairs, lifting equipment, and working around industrial machinery
Operators must be able to safely work in a physically demanding environment typical of large-scale mining operations.

- Must be local to Alaska
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without work visa sponsorship
- Ability to work safely at an active mine site
