$32-35/hr, interview and start ASAP!NO EPA CERT REQUIRED
The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of building systems at multiple locations. Company vehicle provided. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, this role performs hands-on maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure the comfort, functionality, and safety of the facility.
Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical systems including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, fan coils, and VAVs. Manage, maintain, and adjust building automation systems (BAS/EMS) for energy efficiency and occupant comfort, per industry standard guidelines. Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical components including but not limited to ballasts, outlets, switches, fixtures, and occasional breakers, and plumbing fixtures such as toilets, urinals, sinks, valves, and faucets. Conduct fire/life safety inspections including fire panels, pumps, extinguishers, alarms, sprinklers, and emergency lighting systems. Implement, monitor, and optimize preventive maintenance programs across the portfolio to extend equipment life and minimize downtime. Perform general building repairs including painting, ceiling tiles, doors, locks, lighting, flooring, and basic carpentry work. Direct and inspect the work of outside vendors and contractors for adherence to building standards, safety protocols, and quality expectations. Respond promptly to service requests and emergencies, such as leaks, HVAC outages, electrical failures, and fire alarms. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and vendor work through CMMS or work order systems. Support planning and execution of capital projects, renovations, and improvements. Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, while promoting a culture of accountability and proactive hazard identification. Maintain a professional demeanor consistent with company values while providing excellent client services.
Requirements 1-3 years of experience in commercial building operations, engineering, or skilled trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing). High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred. Prior experience with Class A commercial offices, medical offices, or other commercial properties strongly preferred. Working knowledge of building systems, including chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, and BAS. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, CMMS/work order systems, smartphone/tablet apps). Strong customer service orientation and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, vendors, and property teams. Valid state driver"s license and reliable transportation required; willingness to travel between properties as needed. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally, climb ladders/stairs, kneel, bend, and work overhead or in confined spaces. Ability to work in varying environments (mechanical rooms, rooftops, outdoors, extreme temperatures, inclement weather). Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and rigging equipment. Extended periods of standing and walking across large properties.
Preferred Qualifications Graduate of a technical or trade school program. EPA Universal Certification (CFC handling) strongly preferred. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Energy Management Systems (EMS). Familiarity with ASHRAE standards.
