Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Mechanic to support our civil construction operations by performing on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy equipment. This role operates directly in an active construction environment and requires strong mechanical expertise, self-direction, and a safety-first mindset.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in the field, responding to equipment issues on job sites, and keeping projects moving by minimizing downtime.

Equipment & Vehicles Serviced

This position services a wide range of diesel and light-duty equipment, including but not limited to:

Commercial Trucks:
- Mack
- Peterbilt
- Kenworth
Heavy Equipment:
- CAT excavators
- CAT skid steers
- Dozers
- Backhoes
- Skid steers (various models)
Light-Duty Trucks & Support Vehicles

Responsibilities

Perform on-site troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs
Conduct preventative maintenance and routine servicing
Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
Respond to breakdowns at active construction sites
Inspect equipment and identify safety or operational concerns
Maintain accurate service and repair records
Communicate clearly with supervisors and equipment operators
Follow all jobsite safety and compliance requirements

Requirements

Proven experience as a mobile mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or diesel mechanic
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Experience working in a civil construction or industrial jobsite environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
Own tools preferred (company service vehicle provided, if applicable)
Ability to lift, bend, and work in outdoor conditions

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on heavy equipment or commercial truck experience
CAT equipment experience a plus
Welding or fabrication experience a plus
DOT inspection experience a plus
