Job Description

About the Position:
American Para Professional Systems, Inc. (APPS) is a leading nationwide provider of mobile life and disability insurance examination services. With more than 100 offices across the United States, APPS has built a reputation for professionalism, reliability, and exceptional service quality.
Role Overview:
When individuals apply for life or disability insurance coverage, insurers often require a medical examination as part of the underwriting process. These examinations are performed by independent contractors who are not affiliated with the insurance company. APPS partners with insurance carriers to facilitate accurate and timely completion of these assessments.
Responsibilities:
As an Independent Contractor Examiner, you will conduct health screenings at locations convenient for clients, including their homes, workplaces, insurance agents' offices, or APPS facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting brief health assessments and obtaining medical history information.
  • Documenting details related to illnesses, surgeries, medications, healthcare providers, and provider contact information.
  • Recording physical measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and waist-to-hip ratio.
  • Collecting blood and urine specimens, and occasionally saliva samples.
  • Performing venipuncture using a two-tube vacutainer system; strong phlebotomy skills are required.
  • Conducting electrocardiograms (EKGs) using portable equipment when needed (training provided).
  • Preparing specimens for shipment and ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.
  • Examinations typically take between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the specific requirements of the insurance carrier.
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Successfully pass a background check.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and a mobile phone.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Demonstrate strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
  • Be proficient with computers, printers, and scanners.
  • Exhibit strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Accurately obtain and document medical histories.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively communicate with branch offices, clients, and insurance agents.
  • Ability to perform EKGs is preferred; training will be provided if necessary.
Schedule: This is an independent contractor position that offers the flexibility to create and manage your own schedule.
Compensation:
  • Compensation is based on examiner availability and the number of completed examinations.
  • Payments and reimbursements are issued biweekly through direct deposit.
