Job Description
About the Position:American Para Professional Systems, Inc. (APPS) is the premier provider of mobile life and disability insurance examination services nationwide. With over 100 offices across the United States, the organization is recognized for its professionalism and commitment to high-quality service.Operational Approach:When an individual applies for a life or disability insurance policy, a medical screening is often mandated. This examination is conducted by an independent contractor unaffiliated with the insurance provider. APPS collaborates with insurers to ensure that exams are completed accurately and efficiently.Health Screening Responsibilities:
- As an independent contractor and examiner, you will perform health screenings at various locations, including the client’s residence, workplace, agent’s office, or an APPS facility—depending on convenience. Some examinations involve a brief medical history questionnaire similar to those completed during annual physicals.
- You will document the client’s medical history, including illnesses, surgeries, medications, and healthcare providers, along with their contact information. Physical measurements will include height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and hip-to-waist ratio.
- Specimen collection typically involves blood and urine samples; occasionally, saliva samples are required. Venipuncture, using a vacutainer (two tubes), is necessary, and strong phlebotomy skills are essential.
- Additionally, you may perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) with a portable device—training will be provided if required.
- Post-examination procedures include preparing samples for shipment and completing the necessary documentation. Each screening generally lasts between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on specific requirements.
Eligibility Criteria for Examiners:Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully pass a background investigation
- Possess a mobile phone, valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of auto insurance

- Exhibit excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Accurately record medical histories
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Work independently and responsibly
- (Optional) Perform EKGs with training provided
- Possess effective communication skills to liaise with branch offices, clients, and agents
