We are looking to add an experienced Mold Design Engineer to our team. This position is responsible for developing and designing tool engineering processes and technologies. This position assists with customer quotes and orders for tooling in order to fulfill customer requirements.

What will you do?

On any given day, your responsibilities would include:

  • Interpret customer requests for quote and orders for tooling and determine if additional information is necessary to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Design tooling to produce the desired part(s) efficiently, safely and over an acceptable period of time.
  • Use CAD software to design and produce a technically correct drawing to be used to manufacture the desired customer tooling.
  • Develop a comprehensive bill of materials to accurately and efficiently manufacture a part.
  • Develop, authorize and implement alternative methods and interim solutions for damaged and unsafe tools and equipment to meet functional requirements.
  • Actively participate in tool/equipment try-outs to ensure requirements.
  • Solve any problems that would become apparent during the try-out and ensure these changes are properly documented.
  • Investigate design-engineering changes to maintain engineering configuration and initiate action.
  • Alter or modify design to obtain specified functional and operational performance.
  • Communicate with other departments, customers and vendors to enhance design process
  • Train toolmakers on tool manufacturing procedures and function of equipment.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent education/experience.
  • At least five years of plastic injection mold design experience.
  • Skill and ability to collect, organize and analyze data, summarize data, develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources internally, and/or with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to manipulate complex computer aided design tools and systems. Computer-aided three dimensional and be able to build complex data sets.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks required.
  • Understand basic and complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding industry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
