Description:What We're Doing

The Lockheed Martin RMS Lab Design and Management team supports some of the most vital defense systems, including the U.S. Navy's AEGIS Combat System, the Coast Guard's maritime security platforms, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Solid State Radar, Homeland and Expeditionary Defense, and a wide range of research and development programs. Our engineering and lab design efforts ensure these mission critical systems operate effectively, reliably, and securely in defense of national and global security interests.

The Work

The Moorestown Labs Design Manager is the first line leader responsible for the day to day operations of a high performing engineering team. This role oversees system and lab design development at the Moorestown Development Labs, which include the Mission Systems Engineering Center (MSEC), Naval Systems Computing Center (NSCC), Combat System Engineering and Development Site (CSEDS), and other program test facilities supporting AEGIS, Coast Guard, SSDS, LCS, Homeland Defense, S4R, and Expeditionary efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage program cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Lead the team (staffing, training, development).
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Partner with Facility Engineering on lab requirements and facility design/build.
  • Monitor Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
  • Manage Moorestown Lab Line of Business and Engineering & Technology (E&T) capital plans and execution.
  • Support milestone events (e.g., PDR, CDR) and stakeholder reviews.
  • Present to leadership on capital and performance initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years related system engineering experience
  • Experience with cost, schedule, and performance management.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Navy/Defense Development lab design, operations or systems engineering.
  • Proven ability to support customer interface as required
  • Prior project management experience.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) certified.
  • Background with SSR/S4R, AEGIS, Coast Guard, or LCS programs.
  • Experience with design tools like Zuken E3, Creo or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin processes and reviews.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Active Secret or higher clearance.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
