Job Description

Role Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Originator II is responsible for performing duties associated with lending in accordance with established objectives, policies, and procedures. Establishes, maintains, and maximizes relationships with potential and existing customers while ensuring the bank's profitability through profitable loan growth, deposits and fee income.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastically support the bank sales function by providing exceptional service to internal and external customers of the bank.
  • Consult with and assist in the completion of loan applications from consumers, within regulatory and Bank policy guidelines.
  • Analyze, underwrite, document, and approve or deny mortgage and consumer loan requests within established lending limits and policy guidelines.
  • Responsible for the collection of originated loans, maintains and monitors past due loans.
  • Responsible for the deposit and consumer loan sales growth and profitability of the location.
  • Represent and promote the bank at sponsored events in the community to generate referrals through community, civic and volunteer efforts.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist employees with questions and concerns relating to internal bank operations.
  • Update knowledge and develop professionally on a continuing basis. Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
  • Fully complies with all applicable enterprise policies and procedures. Acts in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in training materials, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act. Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to the AML/CFT team.

Measures of Performance:

  • Maintains business loan portfolio of $35M-$70M and/or 301-600 or more relationships

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/finance or related field, and/or a minimum of eight years previous banking or related experience required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with strong sales orientation and ability to identify opportunities to connect the customer with banking partners to grow their financial relationship.
  • Computer literacy including experience with Office Suite, MS Word, and other computer software products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Bank and collaborate with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize a diversified workload, handle multiple tasks concurrently; exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of the local communities which we serve and proven community involvement.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning may be required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average at least 40 hours a week and may include some evening and weekend hours.
