Morgan Stanley Family Office (“MSFO”) group partners with Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors across all channels to offer portfolio management services to family office clients of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Investment Officer to build and manage client portfolios for Single Family Office clients
  • The Investment Officer will be responsible for client portfolios’ asset allocation and manager selection as well as risk management and monitoring
  • The Investment Officer will have responsibilities around capital markets transactions ranging from structured products to portfolio hedging strategies
  • Engage with clients to perform client discovery, draft investment policy statements, and provide quarterly reporting
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of administrative and operational activities, including those involving outside custodians and trading, reporting, and client cash flows
  • Partner with internal advisors and consultants to win new clients and raise new assets
  • Work with internal research teams to provide clients with periodic market and portfolio updates
  • Prepare portfolio allocation and performance reports for client investment committee presentations

Knowledge and skills

  • 5-10 years of investment-related experience servicing individuals and families in a wealth management or investment consulting capacity
  • Strong experience in alternative investments and structured products
  • Experience and knowledge in investment/wealth management platforms and vehicles, including managed account platforms, mutual funds, ETFs, separate accounts, and alternative investments
  • Experience and knowledge in global capital markets, technical expertise across asset classes
  • Firm understanding of portfolio management concepts including modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection, risk management and performance attribution
  • Experience with alternative investment asset classes and concentrated equity positions preferred
  • Understanding of UHNW planning techniques and strategies preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Must be very detail-oriented, with an ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive & hard working with strong professional accountability

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree is required
  • Graduate degree, CFA, CAIA and other professional designations are preferred
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) licenses required or willingness to obtain within 120 days of hire (additional licensing may be required)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 115,000 and 205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
