Job Description

Are you looking for your next MSP role and naturally curious about solving new, complex problems? The Dirks Group, an MSP supporting organizations across central Wisconsin, is looking for an MSP L3 Systems Engineer. The MSP L3 Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and escalation support of client infrastructure. This is an in-person role based in Wausau, Wisconsin.

What You’ll Do:

Design, deploy, support, and continuously improve client network, server, and cloud infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless, VPNs, physical/virtual servers, Azure, and Microsoft 365
Serve as a senior escalation point, providing advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex or high-impact network, server, and cloud issues
Lead and execute client-facing infrastructure and cloud projects such as migrations, refreshes, upgrades, and new implementations
Define, apply, and document infrastructure and cloud standards, architectures, and major configuration changes within client environments
Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and account management on technical planning, escalations, and long-term infrastructure roadmaps
Provide technical mentorship to more junior technical resources

Skills You’ll Need:

2-5 years of experience in a similar role
Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching, with hands-on experience supporting firewalls, VPNs, and network security appliances
Experience supporting Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper-V
Proven experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including complex hybrid infrastructure issues
Ability to independently troubleshoot advanced technical issues while clearly documenting environments and communicating solutions to clients
Prior MSP experience preferred, with comfort working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
Ability to work an on-call rotation to support client needs after hours
Infrastructure or cloud certifications and experience with hybrid identity preferred
