Job Description

Keiser University is seeking a dynamic and creative Multimedia and Communications Coordinator to support the University's Public Relations and Communications team. This role serves as a key content producer responsible for developing compelling stories that elevate the University's brand, highlight student success, and showcase institutional impact. The position will assist in improving outreach to key supporters of Keiser University. The Multimedia and Communications Coordinator will work on numerous departmental initiatives related to brand management, public relations, government relations, student services, and media relations. Public relations, social media management, public engagement, and special event planning are critical functions of the Media and Public Relations department at Keiser University.

The ideal candidate is a former multimedia journalist or newsroom professional with experience in storytelling, video production, and media relations. This individual will blend traditional public relations efforts-such as pitching stories to journalists and securing media coverage-with the creation of high-quality digital content, particularly video, for platforms including YouTube and social media.

This position requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can identify newsworthy opportunities, and translate them into engaging multimedia content that supports strategic communications goals.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify, develop, and pitch compelling story ideas to local, regional, and national media outlets
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and producers
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, pitches, and talking points
  • Coordinate interviews, media visits, and press opportunities with faculty, students, and leadership
  • Monitor media coverage and contribute to reporting on PR performance
  • Produce, shoot, and edit high-quality video content for YouTube, social media, and internal platforms
  • Develop storytelling-driven video features highlighting student success, academic programs, and university initiatives
  • Capture on-campus events, interviews, and b-roll to support ongoing content needs
  • Collaborate with marketing and admissions teams to align content with enrollment and branding goals
  • Adapt content for multiple platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Write engaging captions and scripts tailored to each platform
  • Support the execution of social media campaigns and content calendars
  • Work closely with university leadership, faculty, and campus teams to identify storytelling opportunities
  • Support major university initiatives, events, and announcements with integrated communications strategies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Multimedia Production, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in a newsroom, public relations agency, or in-house communications team
  • Prior experience as a multimedia journalist, reporter, or producer at a television station strongly preferred
  • Strong storytelling ability with a news-oriented mindset and understanding of what makes a story compelling
  • Proficiency in video production, including shooting, editing, and post-production (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools)
  • Experience pitching stories and working with media outlets
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
