K–8 Music Teacher (Guitar)

Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive K–8 Music Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned music instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and a love of the arts. This role is responsible for building foundational music skills while cultivating student confidence through performance and artistic exploration.
AMS teachers are collaborative, growth-minded professionals who believe all students can achieve at high levels.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned music instruction for K–8 scholars.
- Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical notation.
- Incorporate vocal and/or instrumental instruction, depending on program needs.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners across multiple grade levels.
- Prepare students for performances, showcases, and school events.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to integrate arts across the curriculum.
- Contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and performances.
- Organize and lead student performances, concerts, and school-wide events.
- Build strong relationships with families and the broader school community.
Scholar Culture & Support
- Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
- Create a structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Encourage student creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following:
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills across K–8 grade levels
- Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Demonstrate commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
- Show passion for arts education and student engagement
- Demonstrate collaboration, flexibility, and strong organizational skills
Compensation & Benefits
AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.
- Salary Range: $44,770 – $50,550 (DOE)
