OPEN POSITION:Music Instructor - Piano + Voice + Additional Instrument(s)SCHEDULE:- Part-Time- Flexible OptionsSTUDIO HOURS:- Monday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm- Tuesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm- Wednesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm- Thursday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm- Friday, closed- Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm- Sunday, closedCOMPENSATION:- $25 per Hour- 1099 PositionLOCATION:- Chicago, Illinois- 4900 N Elston Ave- North Mayfair / Jefferson Park NeighborhoodORGANIZATION PROFILE:UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music education.  UpBeat believes economics should not be a barrier to music education access, and the organization and its donors provide many scholarships to underserved youth every year.  Their teachers are a passionate group who make a difference in the lives of each and every student - they are not only outstanding musicians, but relate to young people and their unique needs.  Individual and peer-based small group learning environments help to facilitate social and emotional  growth, while students learn the fundamentals of music performance and theory, gaining confidence and self-esteem along the way.  UpBeat currently employs 15 instructors, along with 5 interns and a studio manager, and they are excited to welcome a new teacher to their team!POSITION DESCRIPTION:This position is an exciting opportunity for a multi-instrumentalist and experienced vocalist to work with students across a range of instruments and experience levels.  We are seeking someone who is proficient in voice, piano, and at least one other instrument, and who is comfortable teaching both beginner and intermediate students.Depending on the instrument, student ages range from 5 to young adults.  Nearly all lessons are in-person at the UpBeat studio, with virtual lessons offered only in special circumstances.Overall duties include:- teach 30-minute beginner and intermediate individual lessons- teach 45-minute intermediate and advanced individual lessons- teach in group settings when needed (primarily for piano)- teach theory, technique, performance, and composition- utilize exercises and games to motivate students- conduct ongoing assessments of achievements through formal and informal testing- help to coordinate and support program activities- contribute towards organizing activities, curriculum design, and student / parent feedbackThis is an exciting opportunity for a passionate musician to join a mission-driven non-profit and truly make a difference in the lives of youth through music.REQUIREMENTS:- proficiency in vocal performance- proficiency in piano performance- proficiency with at least one other instrument (guitar preferred)  - strong understanding of music theory- previous teaching experience- ability to teach both beginner and intermediate students- ability to teach advanced students preferred (not required)- formal music education or training (we are unable to consider self-taught)- a passion for working with youthHOW TO APPLY:To apply for this position, please send your resume to Jenn Kunkel at jenn@chsrecruiting.com or call (773) 998-1272.
